As part of the year-long celebration of Hendrick Motorsports’ 40th anniversary, Kyle Larson, Chase Elliott, William Byron, and Alex Bowman will be representing some of the most iconic drivers and paint schemes of the team’s history. The team’s four present-day drivers and their Chevrolet Camaros will turn back the clock to legendary Hendrick Motorsports cars of yesterday. Larson, the driver of the No. 5 HendrickCars.com Chevy, is flashing back to the fan-favorite Terry Labonte No. 5 paint scheme that won the 1996 NASCAR Cup Series championship. Elliott’s UniFirst No. 9 will bring fans back to the legendary No. 88 that NASCAR Hall of Fame driver Dale Earnhardt Jr. won the DAYTONA 500 with in 2014 for Hendrick Motorsports. Byron’s No. 24 Axalta Chevrolet will be a modern-day flashback to NASCAR legend Jeff Gordon’s iconic “FireStorm” paint scheme from 2009. Seven-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Jimmie Johnson’s successes for Hendrick Motorsports will be recognized with the iconic blue, white, and silver look on Alex Bowman’s No. 48 Ally car.
